Troubleshooting Restrict Multi Discount Codes — Shopify Plus checkout

This app only works on Shopify Plus. Checkout UI extensions and the checkout editor (where you add app blocks) are Plus features. If the App Store shows “This app isn’t compatible with your store,” your plan may not include checkout extensibility. Learn more on the App Store listing or Shopify Plus.

App block not visible in checkout editor

  • Confirm Restrict Multi Discount Codes is installed and not uninstalled.
  • Open Settings → Checkout → Customize (checkout editor).
  • Look under Apps or the reductions section for restrict-discount-codes and restrict-gift-cards.
  • If blocks are missing, reinstall the app or contact Support.

Customer can still apply multiple codes

  • Check Maximum discount codes allowed in the block settings (default 1 if blank).
  • Confirm you saved and published checkout customizations after editing.
  • Verify the restrict-discount-codes block is added to the live checkout profile, not a draft-only profile.
  • Test in an incognito window or after clearing cart discount codes.

Customer can still apply multiple gift cards

  • Check Maximum gift cards allowed on the restrict-gift-cards block.
  • Confirm the gift card block is published on checkout.
  • Remember: discount and gift card limits are separate extensions with separate settings.
Section titled “Banner shows but checkout is not blocked”
  • The extension requires block progress capability (enabled by default in this app).
  • Some checkout steps may not allow blocking until payment — test on the step where discount codes are entered.
  • Ensure you are testing with more codes than the configured maximum.

Wrong limit message (count mismatch)

  • Re-open the checkout editor and verify the integer in Maximum discount codes allowed or Maximum gift cards allowed.
  • Save and publish again.
  • Hard-refresh the checkout page after publishing.
